SugoiFinds is independent. We sell nothing, hold no inventory, take no bookings and ship nothing. That independence is the basis of every guide we publish.
How we research
- Official sources first. Prices, opening hours and conditions are taken from the official page of the place or the operator, and we link to it. Where a Japanese page and an English page disagree, we read both and say which we used.
- Dates on data. Prices and hours change. Every figure carries the date it was checked, and that date is shown on the page.
- One basis for comparison. When we compare, we compare totals and conditions on the same terms — not headline prices against each other.
- Figures are never invented. Every price, opening time, closing day and condition you act on comes from the official page, and carries the date we checked it. A guide may describe a place in order to show you what it is like; the numbers you plan around are only ever the verified ones. Aggregated user reports are always labeled as such.
- We say when we have not been there. A guide is written either from a visit or from the official Japanese pages of the place and the people who run it. Where we have not visited, we do not write in the first person, and we do not assert anything about the place that those official pages do not support: atmosphere is offered as something to picture, never as something we watched happen.
- Two sources for the things that stop you at the door. Closing days, opening times and whether you need to book are checked against both the operator's listing and the shop's own site. Where the two disagree, we follow the shop's own site and say so.
Images
Photographs are real photographs, credited with the photographer and the licence. Where no photograph of a scene can be sourced, we may use an AI-generated illustration — and the caption says so, every time.
Independence
Rankings and recommendations are never sold, and a commission never changes the order we put things in or the fees we report. We are registered as an affiliate partner with GetYourGuide; no affiliate link is placed on this site at the time of writing. Where we do add one, it will be marked, and our Affiliate Disclosure says exactly what the arrangement is.
Corrections
If you find an error — a price that changed, a policy we misread, a link that broke — we want to fix it. Corrections are applied to the guide itself, and the date shown on the figure changes with it.
