SugoiFinds is an independent guide to two decisions: what a trip to Japan actually costs, and how to buy something from Japan when you are not there. Both come down to the same work — finding the real figure, writing down the date we checked it, and putting the options on one basis.
What we do
- Read the official page first, in Japanese as well as English
- Put a checked date on every figure
- Compare on one basis: the total, and what is included
What we don't do
- We don't sell anything or take bookings
- We don't write experiences we haven't had
- We don't do hidden gems or national coverage
We are a media site, not a shop or a booking platform. We hold no inventory, handle no payments and make no reservations. What we do is the checking: the fee that isn't on the fee page, the hours the English version leaves out, the two official pages that don't agree.
Our place guides are researched from official and published sources — prefectural and municipal pages, operators' own terms, public records. Where the Japanese page and the English page disagree, we say which is which. What we cannot check, we leave out.
The buying guides — proxy services, fees, what ships and what does not — are still here. They are built the same way, and every figure in them carries the date it was checked.
Much of what you need is already published. Some of it only in Japanese; some of it in an English version that says something different.
We read both, and we write down the figure with the date we checked it.
